OUR GOALS
FOR PLAYERS AND THE TEAMS
At Kennett Blue Demons Ice Hockey, we ensure that every athlete has the opportunity to improve as a player through the practice of skills, techniques, and strategies, and provide Kennett students with the opportunity to compete in games at a level commensurate with their skill level. We work hard to make sure everyone has fun and feels like an important part of the team. We are committed to creating a positive atmosphere in which coaches, parents, and players work together to enjoy the game of Ice Hockey.
ABOUT
Eligibility
We welcome players who attend Kennett schools or reside in the Kennett Consolidated School District (KCSD). Players from nearby districts may also be eligible for the middle school team. High school players must live in the KCSD and attend Kennett Schools. Email us with any questions.
Tryouts
At this time we are not holding tryouts. All players who sign up will be assigned to a team. We will divide players by skill level if we get enough players to add additional teams.
Experience Level
Our players are typically experienced hockey players and play travel hockey on local teams. If your player is new and wants to get started in hockey, please contact us before registering. We have previously created custom options to help learn the game while participating in the team practices with classmates.
Equipment
All players are required to have full ice hockey equipment. All equipment must be designed for ice hockey, not inline or street hockey. Goalie equipment is specific and varies from this list:
Ice Hockey Stick
Ice Hockey skates
Helmet with Full Face Shield or Mask
Shoulder Pads
Gloves
Elbow Pads
Shin Guards
Hockey Pants
Mouth guard
Hockey Cup or Pelvic Protector
Neck Guards
Home and Away Jerseys, Shells, and Hockey Socks
Leagues, Regulations, and Affiliates
Ice hockey is different than many other school sports because ice hockey is not regulated by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). Youth hockey is regulated by USA Hockey, the sport's national governing organization, and the Atlantic District, the local USA Hockey affiliate that covers Southeastern PA (as well as DE and NJ). The Atlantic District is responsible for sanctioning league and tournament play within their district. The teams in this league are open to student-athletes in the Kennett Consolidated School District. The teams are sponsored and funded by a non-profit parent-led organization, not the Kennett Consolidated School District.
